Seventh-grade students and their parents/legal guardians are invited to a school Orientation. The orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 10th at 5:00 PM. All students and parents should meet in the high school gymnasium.
If you saw this anouncement yesterday, it indicated that the 8th-grade students would also be involved. This was a mistake. If you have already read and/or printed the 8th-grade supply list, you noticed that there was an announcement to this
effect. Please disregard this reminder. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
If you would like a copy of the school calendar for Henry County Schools, move your mouse to the menu at the left and find "Important Documents." Move down to "Henry County Schools Calendar 2010 - 2011" and click once. You may then open the document
in your word processor or save the document to your computer for future reference.
You may also visit the website calendar by moving to the menu on the left and clicking on "Calendar."
All students should bring paper (notebook or spiral-bound), and pen or pencil to school Friday, August 13. Your teachers will be giving you information concerning the supplies that you will need during the year for each class. You will also
fill out your annual enrollment cards. You might want to bring certain written information with you to school if you do not know some of the following items:
Parent/Legal Guardian's place of employment and phone number at work
Emergency contact person along with phone number (in case we can't get your parent/legal guardian)
Your social security number
The number of the bus that you ride as well as the bus driver's name
The tag number of the car that you drive or ride to school each day if you do not ride the bus
-
Home phone, address, and zip code
The Cell Phone Policy has been modified since last year. You may want to view this policy before taking your cell phone to school. As a reminder, the hot spot for cell phone use is the break area AROUND the concession stand area DURING break
time. All other times and places are not for cell phone use unless it is used as prescribed in the Modified Cell Phone Use policy.
You can find the Cell Phone Policy by going to the menu to the left and moving your mouse to Important Documents. Move to Modified Cell Phone Use Policy and click once.
Attendance at the high school level is taken during EACH class. Students must be aware of the number of absences in EACH class not overall days absent. This applies to tardies as well. If you check out before the end of the school day, you may have more absences in those end-of-the-day classes than your morning classes. Anytime you miss more than half of a class period you are counted as absent from that class period. If you want these absences excused, you must bring in an excuse within 3 days of the absence. Failing to do so prevents you from making-up the missed work in that class and therefore you receive a zero for that assignment. There are limits to the number of parent notes that you may use to excuse your absence. Check with your teacher. The check-out slip you receive in the office when you check-out or check-in is NOT an excuse.
